Become a Coach
If you are interested in becoming a Squash Coach, OSRA is here to help.
To obtain the Level 1 qualification, you need to attend the 1-Day Participation Coach Award Course, in addition to having an enhanced DBS check and obtaining the Safe Guarding and Protecting Children (SPC1) certificate.
OSRA will contribute 50% of the total cost of the above, and in return, ask you to spend 4 (unpaid) hours assisting the County Coach, Jason Varrie (which we think should be viewed as an additional benefit rather than a payback!).
We also think that it might be an idea if you are considering coaching to drop Jason an email ([email protected]) to signify your interest, especially if you are unsure of who and where to coach. He will point you in the right direction.
If you are already Level 1 qualified but would like to progress to Level 2, then also speak to us (via Brian Bell at [email protected]) and we will discuss what financial support we can offer you.
To get started on the Level 1, England Squash run the course and provide details about how to obtain your enhanced DBS check and ‘attend’ the online SPC1 Course.
You will find all the relevant details at https://www.englandsquash.com/get-involved/coach/get-into-coaching
Michael Beck, the skipper of Nuffield 1 (and OSRA Committee Member) is about to embark on his coaching journey and I’m sure will provide us with details of how it all went once he has completed.
